The Gallardo SE (Special Edition) was introduced for the 2006 model and is limited to just 250 units worldwide. It is characterised by its two-tone body colour, a more sporty interior and various technical improvements over the standard Gallardo whilst being equipped with the same permanent 4WD and 6 speed manual gearbox this time with shorter gear ratios in the first five gears and 20bhp more delivered from the engine via the improved exhaust, giving a 0.2 sec improvement in the 0-60mph time, dropping it to just 3.9 seconds, and an improved top speed. The SE also benefits from improved steering with a more precise and quicker steering rack.
It was available in six colours: two grey shades as well as Balloon white, yellow (Giallo Midas), orange (Arancio Borealis) and green (Verde Ithaca). The roof, the engine lid, the front and rear spoiler as well as the two side mirrors are painted in black (Nero Noctis) making them stand out against the body colour. The rear lights are also slightly tinted and the newly designed split rim "Callisto" rims give an extra touch to the overall appearance which is complemented by the coloured brake calipers available in grey or yellow.
The interior design sets forth the two-tone concept by having all piping and stitching matching the exterior body colour of the car. The Lamborghini shield is embossed on the headrest of the driver and passenger seat and the Lamborghini script is preciously inserted into the dashboard. The carpets are black having the borders again matching the exterior body colour of the car and the entire interior is handcrafted in leather partially perforated and of supreme quality. The interior design underlines the new, more aggressive personality of this Special Edition.
Extra standard SE equipment includes a rear view camera and multimedia screen, sports suspension, sports steering wheel and no cost option semi-slick P Zero Corsa tyres (specifically developed by Pirelli for more ambitious driving).
